"To me a world fit for children is a world where all kids have the opportunities and support they need to reach their full potential."
... a safe place where each child feels respected for who they are, where each child feels confident to explore, to be expressive and know they are a valued part of our society.
A world fit for children is to have Federal and Provincial Governments invest appropriately in early learning and child care which will influence the creation of a universal system where every family will have access to quality and affordable early learning and child care environments. This is a real and achievable goal which I believe will create fully "A World fit for Children".
Lynn Smyth, St.John's, Newfoundland
...is a world where children can access the proper medical and dental services, tests, medications based on need rather than what health plan you have or are able to access.
Where children can go to school and not be afraid of their identity....where they feel okay to have pride in their culture, language, history, and traditions. That this pride is encouraged and celebrated within our child care centres and schools.
It is a world where children's needs come first and foremost....and for once we speak with actions and not words.
Deanna Leon-Cook, British Columbia
...where their role models provide the opportunities to engage all children in achieving wellness. A world where wellness doesn't have to dwell on the basic necessities of shelter, safety and nutrition but on the opportunities of health, happiness, love and respect. A world where 'smarties' are just candies and eating the red ones last provides wonder and joy until late adulthood.
Dr. Tish Doyle-Baker, Calgary, Alberta
...one where children learn respect by recieving respect, and learn to love by being loved, and learn to listen by being listened to. A world where they are taught to solve problems, not having the problems removed, where they learn the value of work by watching those around them work, where they learn the value of community by being in community.
D. Stephens, Alberta
